Sample Questions

A preview of the questions you will encounter in the Geography trainers.

Hazards Trainer

Explain why some communities are more vulnerable to tectonic hazards than others. Refer to at least two factors.

Answer: Vulnerability depends on factors such as (1) level of economic development — wealthier countries can afford earthquake-resistant infrastructure and early-warning systems, and (2) population density — densely populated areas near plate boundaries face greater risk. Governance and emergency planning also play a role.
Sustainability Trainer

Describe two strategies used to manage tropical rainforest deforestation sustainably.

Answer: (1) Selective logging limits the number of trees cut, allowing the forest to regenerate naturally. (2) Ecotourism provides local income tied to preserving the forest, giving communities an economic incentive to protect rather than clear land.
