Drama Key Terms
| Stanislavski | Russian practitioner who developed the "System" for naturalistic acting — emotional memory, given circumstances, objectives |
| Brecht | German practitioner who developed Epic Theatre and the alienation effect (Verfremdungseffekt) to make audiences think critically |
| Artaud | French practitioner who created the Theatre of Cruelty — sensory overload to provoke visceral audience reactions |
| Proscenium | A stage type framed by an arch, with the audience seated on one side facing the performance area |
| Thrust | A stage that extends into the audience on three sides, creating greater intimacy |
| In the Round | A performance space with the audience seated on all sides around the stage |
| Blocking | The planned movement and positioning of actors on stage during a performance |
