Project 56 ("P56", "we", "us") is a study platform for IB MYP students. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it in plain English.

When you sign in with Google:
Learning data:
Things you post: forum posts and replies, and any images you upload to the forum or the student gallery.
Usage data: pages you visit and features you use on P56, linked to your account, so we can see what works and fix what doesn't. With your consent, Google Analytics also collects anonymised usage statistics.
Approximate country: to fill in your country automatically, your browser asks ipapi.co for the country of your IP address. We store only the country code, never the IP address.
On your device only: preferences such as dark mode, fonts, wallpaper and music, plus some practice history, are kept in your browser's local storage.
Speaking practice and oral exams: your browser turns your speech into text. That text is sent for AI marking. Audio sent to our server during an oral exam is used only for that session and is not stored.
We do not collect your full date of birth, home address, phone number or payment details.
The AI tutor and AI marking are powered by Claude, made by Anthropic. When you use them, your question or answer (including any drawing or photo of your working, or a transcript of what you said in speaking practice) and the relevant lesson content are sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Your name and email are not sent. Anthropic processes this on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. We do not store the content of your AI conversations, only a daily count of how many messages you sent.
AI can make mistakes. Check important answers against your teacher's guidance.
Private messaging and group chats were removed in October 2026, and their messages were permanently deleted.
We do not sell your data and we do not show ads. We share data only with these providers, who process it for us:
P56 is built for MYP students, who are usually 11 to 16. If you are under 13, you may use P56 only through your school, where the school has agreed to its use, or with permission from a parent or guardian.
Parents and guardians can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete their child's data by emailing hello@project-56.org. If we learn that a child under 13 is using P56 without school or parental permission, we will delete their account.
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, progress, leaderboard entries, forum posts and AI usage records are deleted straight away. Copies may remain in our backups for up to 7 days before being deleted automatically.
Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the EU and UK GDPR and similar laws, you can:
All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database access is restricted by security rules so that, for example, students can read only their own private data. No system is perfectly secure, but we review and test these protections regularly.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also let users know on the site.
